Area Missionary & PartnershipReport, Oct 2009
Area Missionary and Partnership Report
October 2008 - September 2009
Our Purpose:
- Support
- Strengthen
- Encourage one another.
Our Objectives:
- Partnership
- Prayer
- Giving
Our Role:
Our Method:
- Fast
- Flexible
- Focused
- Friendly
We work at building trust by:
- Involving in decision making (needs and desires of churches highest priority)
- Communicating needs and activities.
- Caring about needs (giving and praying)
- Continuity (lay involvement)
- Continuing prayer (a method of discovering concerns)
One of the ways you can determine what we are doing in the area of partnership is to look at the financial reports, monthly, or when you receive a summary such as the budget compared to income/expense. You will see the congregations are very generous in supporting the association. This is true partnership.
- 63% of our giving this past year went into Partnership and Prayer needs
- The Partnership part of our work includes: New Work, Church Strengthening, Evangelism and Missions Involvement/education.
- Our largest single investment was with Lincoln Christian Center/.Harvest Community Church new work. We have said up to $3,000 would be paid for new work. The $3,000.00 was spent to pay part of the plumbing contractor for the new furnace. In addition, we send $300.00 per month for pastor salary supplement to Lincoln.
- We invested $6,000.00 in a new tent for evangelism. The most active shared ministries are the block party trailer and pop corn machine.
- We send funds, monthly, to the three Native American congregations (see their reports.)
- We seek to help with emergencies (benevolence), primarily within pastoral families.
- We respond to disaster relief and emergency needs of our congregations.
- We respond to the needs of congregations without pastors and the financial needs of churches with new pastors.
- Kids Camp is a primary ministry for Prairie Partners. We have an International Missionary each year. This is producing huge missions commitment (see the report on Kids Camp).
We have partnership arrangements with Grand Crossings Association, in Missouri, and less formal arrangements with teams from many other places. These activities take less funds from the association, but expend much more in time and energy of the pastors, layleaders and area missionary. Some of these partnerships have lasted for a very long time, and some are one time only, but always have the possibility of becoming long-term. There are construction teams, VBS teams, sports event teams, prayer walking teams, and camp teams, training teams, just to name a few. Some are comprised of senior adults, some are youth, and others are mixed. Each one is intended to extend the ministry here, and generally improves the mission spirit of the church or group sending the team.
We hear of church-to-church partnerships within our association. This consists of praying for needs, sending VBS offerings to a smaller congregation; helping with Bible Study, lending training resources to another, sharing VBS materials and workers, sending a work team to help with construction or coming along beside other churches to help encourage and lend temporary leadership. Our churches are interconnected and care for each other: parents in one - children in another; friends moving from one town to another and becoming involved in the new place; news of a serious illness or disaster is shared, and people from the whole association are praying and some are going to help. All this is partnership, working together for the good of the whole.
Thank you for you, and your congregation’s interest and commitment.
